The idea of a command prompt on bottom is very good. It would be even better if it worked on all commands, such as dir, route print etc. also non DOS/powershell commands, if one has Cygwin in the PATH or whatever. So another idea would be to show the std output and error from the console in a new tab, showing a text-only window.
