Big directories

Opening a directory containing > 8000 files takes seconds, and everything freezes in the meantime. With windows explorer it is almost immediate.

hmm...this could be on your side. i tested with 13k files and works fine.
Can you tell me what kind of files do you have in that dir?

They are short include files. Consider that in my posted video there is also a caching effect. It initially was even slower.

Can you give me the url of repository that you have in the video? (if it's open source, of course).
I cloned this one: https://github.com/tpaviot/oce . Seems similar to what you have, but it's working fine on my side.

I guess you're using latest beta build of MyCo. (If not please tell me the build date. It's in about section. )

I see that you have overlay icons for version tracking i suppose. Can you tell me what software you use for that?

Also do you have SSD or HDD as a hard drive?

I have an i7 with SSD, so both CPU and I/O are super fast. For version tracking I use tortoiseSVN, but the directory I showed it's not under versioning (consider that windows explorer does not have this problem). When you fetch huge directories, my suggestion is to render only a tiny subset at a time, only the one items that will be visible on screen. Then you refresh the rendering at each relevant mouse/keyboard event, those that cause the visibile items list to change.

I see. On my side if you saw the video is working smooth.
Hard to say what is happening if i cannot reproduce it.

So do you have latest build of MyCo? Can you tell me build date from about dialog si that i can build that version, if it's not latest .
